S.T.O.R.M has held various Peace Concerts.
Teenagers & the Police joined together to become
‘One Authority’to keep Gun Crime off our streets under the title of
‘There IS an Alternative’
We took 2 young people who had been involved in gang violence to Cape Town. The BBC followed the South Africa project and we are now working with partners to secure funding to enable us to use learning from the South Africa project to help tackle the gun and gang related problems here on the streets of London.
Peace Concert 2008
As part of our mission to support and empower young people to reject
involvement in gangs and guns, and seek alternatives in education, employment
and training, we staged our Peace Concert the Battersea Arts Centre.
Our 2008 peace concert was named "Breaking The Barriers" . This
involved bringing people together from different post codes in London to
our location in Wandsworth for the event sponcered by the police.
We brought in mums as guest speakers who's children had been killed by gun
and knife crime to make others aware of the impact and damage this has caused their famileis. The Peace Concert is also a time to enjoy and celebrate talent
within the community with musicians, dance, guest speakers and advice.
Famous names in entertainment also attend our event to show their passion
and support for anti gun and knife crime.
S.T.O.R.M took a group of single mothers looking to challenge trends that
leave them drained of resources which creates a strain on their daily lives.
The ladies were taught new skills to equipt and inspire them to a more fulfilling
life through S.T.O.R.M , sponsored by Family Learning Project and funded by
the Big Lottery.
Womans Only Conference
Our womans only conference brought woman together to listen to our
succesful female guest speakers
to encourage and empower our woman
and show that no matter what life throws at them they can still have success!
